PRODUCTION PROCESS
Local timber
Local pine and spruce logs are sourced from the forests around our production facility. For special projects other species can be used including oak, ask, birch and other tree species. We store and sort logs to stockpile various sizes that allow us to maximize the use of timber and reduce waste.

Milling and natural drying
Logs are cut into flitches of 30mm thickness using our Woodmizer LT20 sawmill. All our products use 30mm thick flitch as basis of production. Flitches are sorted and stored outside to slow-dry them in natural surroundings. Since the material designed to be used in open-air natural environment - this slow drying process is essential to ensure predictable and stable performance of the facade shingles when installed.

Production
Flitches are cut into the final product using a combination of processes that include use of Woomizzer LT20, crosscut saws and other equipment. Shingles are inspected, sorted and holes are drilled for the fixation screws using patterns designed for each type of shingle.

Post - production
Depending on Clients requirements - post production can include planing, brushing of the shingles as well as different levels of treatment from various natural oils and paints, to partial or full charring.

Shingles are stored on pallets and can be shipped or collected at our production facility in Straupe. Usual pallet of 1.2m x 1,2m x 1.5m (h) holds around 30-40m2 and weights around 700kg. Each shipping process is organized individually depending on the size and nature of the order. We provide free loading in our production facility and can arrange affordable shipping.
